Writing- Using feedback from the last two recounts- students are putting the last few editing touches to their 3rd recount writing on their Thanksgiving.
For this last piece, we brainstormed descriptive words and phrasing- took a nature walk and shared our clipboard entries from the walk.
This week's W.W. continues with plural nouns- s, es, f to ves, and irregular plural nouns
Reading- Students use their fix-up and visualizing strategies to conjuncture up and describe mental pictures of their reading comprehension. Partner excerpt investigations include one from Anne of Green Gables, an ocean/beach scene and a race.
Read-aloud and discussion: Because of Winn Dixie
Math- We completed a check-in on rounding on Friday. Students are building their understanding and feedback. If your child completed one on Friday (all but 3), it will go home on Monday. Students are encouraged to continue to practice using Dream Box or play the game in their H.O.M.E. Math assignment.
We will continue to build number sense through place value, ordering and rounding but will use the reference of money- Gr. 3 expectation is to read, add bills and coins and make change from $10 dollars.
Art- Continued focus on Colour Warm and Cool- with introduction to space, texture, and using our visualizing skills to comment on colour and mood (Dr. Seuss' book My Many Coloured Days is our inspiration.)
Science- introduction to soils
Gym- Introduction to volleyball skills
Religion/Family Life- Continuing to practice our Gospel Values and how they relate in our daily relationships
