Week three and we are moving along into a lot of great learning.
I am conducting daily conferencing and hopefully math check-ins will arrive home on Monday and Tuesday. Students will also share with their parents, my comments and descriptive feedback on their Oral Presentations. Last week we have been practising subtraction with regrouping and picto, bar and pie graphs. We have been interrupting and comparing and using our addition and subtraction skills in writing accurate conclusions. We have also been researching various charities with a closer look at the Ottawa Mission, Humane Society, Spread the Net, and Polar North. Now with the knowledge they have acquired, this week they will choose one and write myself or Mrs. Blackburn a persuasive letter as to why we should support the charity of their choice. As a real-life extension, the Grade 3s are invited to participate in compiling and selling Valentine bags to really support a local charity of choice (results of voting). My class has also teamed up with Mrs. Stiff's and my Gr. 6 Religion/Family Life class to create a google slide presentation on our Gospel value of Hope. Great learning and collaboration- wonderful! With this new knowledge and experience, my threes will start organizing their All About Me slide presentation. Parents are more than welcome to assist their children. We have not chosen dates to present, so no rush. It is my intent that the students can organize their slides and then all they have to do from home is paste in any photos to show the class. I am happy to assist with this at school either by your child bringing a jump drive with pictures or a hard copy and I can scan them. The presentations are for class purposes, the slides will be located in the students' accounts and will not be posted anywhere. Please remember the importance of H.O.M.E.
