Math-October will focus on Classifying and Representing Whole Numbers. Number concepts are intended to be embedded throughout the year, through number talks, math chats and integrated activities- STEAM (Science, TEchnology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) and Movement. Math talks will also involve 3D solids and angles- presenting is for later Spatial Sense skills.
We will be following the Math Up Program with additional practice using Mathletics in the Student Portal.
Our lessons can be broken down into the following areas. Dr. Small has prepared SUM IT UP ipages for parents' information and to support their child's learning. I have included the links below.
We will also begin a Global Read Aloud with the novel, Indian No More and hope to team up with classes for book chats either here in Canada or abroad. Stay tuned!
Religion: How do we come to know God? Students will learn the many ways that we can come to know God—through Jesus and Scripture; God’s creation (the natural world and every human person); our ability to reason; our gift of faith; the Church and the Mass; and the sacraments.
Family Life: Recognize and appreciate that each person is created in God's image to be a person of love.
Appreciate the complexity/mystery of each person
